Back to school

This term is going to be busy with end of year tests and speeches.

Our topic will be cultural diversity in New Zealand and how it has affected New Zealand's past and present. We will also study how it will affect New Zealand's future.

Ms Gifford is back working for two blocks a day having to put up with us.

Ms Nixon and Mr Fowler will be in for the last blocks of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The Year 8's will also (hopefully) be enjoying their last term at The Gardens School.

Have a nice term everyone!!!!

Hi Everyone!

Good morning Kea One. I'm sure if you don't read the blog regularly that Omkar or Gursewak will share this message with you. I'm just checking in to make sure everyone is behaving themselves and leading proudly. I'm sure you are all busily working away on your new projects for Term 3, I'll be looking forward to seeing what you create for Wearable Arts with Ms Nixon and Mr Fowler. Imogen is getting bigger and I'll bring her in soon to meet you. She has a very mischievous personality - she reminds me of several of you actually!
Be good and try to stay out of trouble - I will know if you don't!
See you soon,
Ms G.

Box Car Derby Extravaganza

On 23rd July was the Box Car Derby and it was an extravaganza. The Intermediate champions were nearly a tie but only a centimetre broke them off. But the school-wide champion was clear, The Soldiers, a senior team. Please watch the following video to see most of the derby and if the prediction that most of our class made was true:

As you saw Smash 8 won the Intermediate champion but lost the school-wide championship to a year 5-6 team. Here is some highlights:

Cross Country

On Thursday 18th June 2009 the whole school did the school cross country. The Y8s' route was up Wairere Road around Hill Road, up Mt Lebanon Crescent and into the school. For Y7's it was the same except we went in front of the school and entered through the gate.

Yum!

Half the team went to soccer today so we did something a bit different for maths.
Using bags of skittles and M&M's we found fractions, simplified them, converted them to percentages, estimated the weight of each fraction and created graphs and tables to show our findings.
Then we ate them!
